The Bonita Springs Historical Society is displaying educational panels on loan from the Collier County Museum that give an overview of the Calusa and other prehistoric cultures in Florida. The exhibit also includes artifacts and archaeology specific to Bonita Springs.

On Saturday night, chocolate desserts and many more items donated by area merchants and businesses were auctioned off at Project Help Inc.’s 14th annual Chocolate Extravaganza fundraiser. Several floats in the Harvest Festival parade were sponsored by produce companies, but the size of the parade and the festival highlights have changed, according to some participants. “It was actually kind of strange because when I was Harvest Queen the streets were packed and it was a big deal,” said Lori Loukonen-Steele, who was Harvest Queen in 1993, the last year the festival had a queen. “I was very excited to come back, but a little disenchanted to see the impact things like NAFTA have had on the area.''
