On the small screen, Eddie Griffin appeared in a series of hilarious commercials for Miller Lite beer. The commercial campaign featured a number of notable people including Burt Reynolds.
And last holiday season, Griffin co-starred in the NBC’s holiday television movie, “The Year Without Santa Claus” as an elf. Eddie’s film resume includes: “Undercover Brother,” “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,” and its sequel “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo,” “Date Movie,” “Scary Movie 3,” “Redline,” “My Baby’s Daddy,” “John Q,” and “Armageddon.”
Eddie is probably best known to television audiences as the star of UPN’s hit comedy series “Malcom & Eddie” where he was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for “Best Actor in a Comedy Series.” Griffin also wrote and directed four episodes of the sitcom, one of which starred his mentor, Richard Pryor.
Griffin began his career in Kansas City when a cousin bet him $50 that he would not go on stage during a visit to a local comedy club. After winning the bet, Griffin purchased a one-way ticket to Los Angeles. One month later he was performing at the renowned Comedy Store. Those performances led to featured appearances on “Def Comedy Jam” the cable ACE-nominated “One Night Stand,” the HBO special “Voodoo Child,” and the stage of the legendary “Apollo Theater.”
