Firepit City Grill Review
Walking through the front doors of Firepit Pizza Grille in Gulf coast Town Center the fresh aroma of fire grill delights filled my nose. The restaurant is arranged in a very interesting way. The first thing that caught my eye was the bar that glowed powerful colors of red, green, and blue through the amazing light fixtures. Throughout the restaurant there are light fixtures imitating burning flames that really give off a comfortable, yet different, vibe. If sitting inside is not what you have in mind, Firepit offers comfortable seating outside. They have even hung drapery from the outside ceiling to provide privacy for you and your guests.
Besides the originality of the design, the menu offers a wide range of different foods to choose from including salads, seafood, pasta, pizza, and steaks. I chose to start with the Firepit Shrimp appetizer ($8.9), which is lightly breaded fried shrimp tossed in a spicy sriracha sauce. The shrimp were quite spicy but had awesome flavors to every bite. I then chose to have the Filet Mignon salad ($14.9), while my guest chose the Margherita pizza ($8.5), because we figured someone had to try the “famous” pizza.
The salad was interesting; the steak melted in my mouth with every bite, and it was served with dried cherries, crispy fried onions, and an amazing warmed up goat cheese croquette that was covered with macadamia nuts. The salad dressing didn’t have a strong flavor, which was why it lacked a little, but the warm goat cheese and buttery filet really made up for the taste of the other ingredients. The pizza was very good with its thin crunchy crust, the mixture of fresh mozzarella, basil, and olive oil worked really well together.
While I was enjoying dinner, I couldn’t help but keep my head fixated on the photography displayed throughout the restaurant. A large black and white photo of a street lamp surrounded by willow trees was astounding. All the photos found in Firepit go with their theme of inspiration from the sound of life, the electricity in the air and the bustle of the city streets. Although my guest and I were far too full to indulge in dessert, their menu was very promising to remember to save room next time. Their dessert choices included items like a raspberry crème brulee ($6.5) or their banana split cake ($5.9) which is pineapple cake topped with strawberries and bananas and a vanilla cream pudding, chocolate and raspberry sauces and chopped nuts.
Firepit’s wide range menu and tastes will have me walking through their front door again and this time with a little more room to try a dessert!
