DONN BROWN

Freelance Visual Journalist

Donn Brown is a frequent contributor to the Collier Citizen. Donn's first opportunity to prove his creative abilities was in high school where he photographed for the school paper and freelanced for a local weekly newspaper. In 1962 he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force as still photographer. Donn was fortunate enough to photograph former President Harry S. Truman and Astronauts Ed White and Donn Eisle. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, Donn joined the photo staff of the Battle Creek Enquirer & News, and later went to the Marshall, Mich., Chronicle to set up and head the photo department. Television became a career objective and Donn worked for an ABC affiliate station in Michigan as chief photographer and videographer before relocating to Naples in the late 1970s. There he began his freelance photography business in 1992 and secured a part-time position as a photographer and darkroom manager with the Naples Daily News. After seven years with the paper Donn left to freelance full time and accept travel assignments. Visit Donn Brown's Web site at photodonn.com.
