Almost a native, Assistant Presentation Editor Mike Hayes has lived in Florida most of his life, coming here at age six from Louisville, Ky. He spent his boyhood in Venice and earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Florida. After working for six years as a copy editor at the News Herald in Panama City, he came to the Naples Daily News in 1996, working first as a copy editor and then as assistant news editor, starting in 1999. As assistant presentation editor, Mike is a member of the team that designs and edits the print edition. When not at work, Mike is an avid bicyclist. He also enjoys reading, movies, surfing the Internet (too much) and watching the Gators win national championships.
