Mosquito Control

As the onslaught of rainy season produces standing water throughout Collier County, millions of mosquitoes migrate north from deep in the everglades to spawn the next generation. The Collier Mosquito Control District (CMCD) collects the pesky insects in traps for study in the lab. CMCD hopes not only to see trends on where the mosquitoes are congregating, but also studies mosquito resistance to various insecticides, so that the right methods can be used for population control.
